Do you know the difference between Less Poo and CoWash?

Our ambassador Thiago Martins will explain the difference between Less Poo and CoWash. Check it out below:

At first, when you hear the words Low Poo or No Poo, there's a feeling of despair: "Oh my God, what is that?". The good news is that it's not as difficult as it sounds, so don't despair, I'll explain everything! After all, what are No Poo and Low Poo? They are hair washing techniques that mean no shampoo and little shampoo, respectively. They can also be called no-foam and low-foam. Their aim is to wash hair in a gentle or less aggressive way, excluding or reducing the use of chemicals such as sulphates, petrolatums and so on

The terms non-foaming and low-foaming stem from the belief that the more foam the shampoo makes, the better it cleans the hair - which is not true. This technique was developed by Englishwoman Lorraine Masse. She gained fame when she wrote the book "Curly Girl", which in the Brazilian version became "Manual da Garota Cacheada".For a long time, it was generally believed that hair oil is synonymous with dirt, but in fact, this oil contains various minerals that are beneficial to the hair, as they naturally moisturize and nourish it.Of course, impurities reach this natural oil, but that doesn't mean that it is completely harmful to the hair. The big issue is that, along with the natural oil, sulphates remove the nutrients that the oil carries with it to the hair, leaving it weak, dry and brittle. The situation is even worse in the case of curly hair, due to the curved structure that prevents the oil from reaching the ends of the strands.

This doesn't mean that straight hair can't benefit from this technique, but that it doesn't suffer as much from the sulphates in shampoos as curly hair does. The aim of the technique is to cleanse the hair without completely removing its natural oils. To do this, it is necessary to give up certain chemicals present in shampoos, such as sulphates, petrolatums and insoluble silicones.
